Since 2020, the growing trend to work (and game) from home has caused our player panel to grow exponentially–increasing to over one million players! We’re proud to offer playtesting with a wide range of players with different gaming preferences - from casual to hardcore - including players from different age groups, or who favor different devices over others.

Still, as our panel has continued to grow, we began to receive a ton of requests from players who playtest and the studios who use PlaytestCloud for playtesting their games: they want us to expand our player panel worldwide. Before today, we playtested with players from the United States, Canada, and the UK–but that’s all about to change!

What does that look like for game studios?

At PlaytestCloud, we know that to make the best games possible, you need feedback from players all across the globe.

As a result you may notice (starting today!) that game studio subscribers who benefit from our Professional Advanced and Enterprise plans are now able choose specific target countries and regions when they customize their playtests:

  • Existing countries: United States, United Kingdom, Canada
  • New countries: Australia, Brazil*, Egypt, Germany*, India, Indonesia, Italy*, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, South Africa, Vietnam
  • New regions: Europe, Nordics, Central America, South America, North Africa, West Africa, South East Asia

Some target audience options may be limited in the countries listed with a * next to them.

This is a huge step forward for game studios who want to scale their games in the future; we’re offering up a simple solution to get the kind of global feedback that is going to make your game truly successful, and which will ensure that players from all over the world really love every game you playtest.

Our players have already taught us so much with their unending enthusiasm to play games, and we’re eager to hear more from global audiences in 2022 and beyond. Additionally, we do believe that having a player panel this big and diverse will result in optimal gamer representation. In other words, we’re giving game studios access to the players who are most likely to play their games in the future.

That’s why when you test your game with PlaytestCloud, you’re seeing how your game will actually fare in today’s marketplace.

How to target a specific country or region

To target a specific country or region, you will need to choose the Target a specific country option under the Player location criteria that appears when you start to specify your target audience in the Target audience section. From there you can choose as many countries as you would like to add to your target audience.

Don't see the country you are looking for? Please let us know! We probably don't have it enabled due to not having enough players from that country just yet. As we roll out playtesting in more countries over the next months, we will prioritize opening frequently requested countries up for testing. Depending on how you’re looking to playtest, we may also have a small but sufficient number of players already for a small-scale playtest.

Don’t want to select individual countries? You now have the ability to target specific regions as well. So, for example, if you are looking for playtesters from Asia or South America, you can choose those regions rather than search for each country one by one.

Note that all of our playtests will still have players think aloud in English, but we will begin to make it possible to test in other languages on a test-by-test basis. How? Just reach out to make arrangements – we’ll be there every step of the way to ensure you get the playtest you want, for the game your team has worked on night and day!

Go global with your next playtest

At PlaytestCloud, we're always looking for ways to make game development easier for you. And with our new feature launch, we think we've done just that.

We are confident that this feature will help you better understand how your game is received in different parts of the world and could help you improve your game's worldwide market potential.

Of course, we still recommend running a classic playtest with players from the United States, Canada, and the UK. These playtest panels are tried and true, and will generally offer you faster results.

That said, we hope you are now better able to find the value of occasionally testing a localized version of your game with a specific country or culture. We think this is a great option for those who plan to expand into new markets with their game, or who want a completely different perspective on their existing game – and we can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Otherwise, keep a close watch for new and exciting updates coming down the pipe from PlaytestCloud. We’re always here to help and are ready to answer your questions or take your suggestions anytime.
